Palm Beach is northwest of
the capital, Oranjestad. Its powder white sand, clear blue water and palm trees
make it one of the most popular resorts on the island.
It is also the home of the
high-rise resort hotels many of which also offer their amenities and resources
to the general public. Therefore there are an abundance of restaurants,
facilities and rental equipment available for wind surfing, sailing, water
bikes and snorkelling.
It is easily accessible by
car, taxi or local bus. It is an excellent area to enjoy the sun, sea, sand and
shopping. Although it can be more crowded than other beaches on the island,
Palm Beach is a great all-round beach offering something for everyone.
The whole of Aruba enjoys an average temperature
of 28°C. The island is made pleasantly cool throughout the year by constant
trade winds. Short showers occur during the months of October, November
and December.
The average monthly temperatures are:

As well as hotel mini markets and souvenir shops,
Palm Beach has been transformed into a shopper’s paradise with the introduction
of several new and interesting large shopping complexes.
Opposite Playa Linda Beach Resort several shops
have sprung up as well as the newest Paseo Herencia Mall featuring a central plaza
surrounded by spectacular free standing buildings in the typical Aruban style.
This centre is far more than just a shopping haven. It also offers fine dining
and entertainment in an outdoor amphitheatre featuring night time local artist performances
and "liquid firework" shows from a central fountain.
Most hotels in the resort
put on some sort of nightly entertainment; this can be anything from cabaret to
traditional entertainment. However if you want to look further afield for a bar
or club, Palm Beach and its surrounding area has plenty to offer.
Below are just a few names
to look out for.
If you can force yourself
to turn your back on the white sand beach for a few hours, Aruba has a lot to
offer you. Being a relatively small island most of its attractions are within
easy reach no matter where you are staying. Below is a selection of some of the
islands attractions that you might like to try during your stay.
The tap water is safe to
drink on Aruba. The island’s medical facilities are
good but can be expensive so you are strongly advised to ensure you have full
health insurance in place before travelling. Although Aruba is
considered a safe place to visit, use common sense for personal safety and
secure your belongings.
